Studio Akemi is a petite creative studio in the City of Big Shoulders. We're located in Fulton Market, Chicago's meat packing district. We pack a different cut of fresh with grit and gusto. Studio Akemi offers insight and creativity to every problem we tackle. Whether its building a brand, directing a video, or developing a user interface, Studio Akemi is a responsive and multidisciplinary partner. We channel client desires into branded and digital experiences that are rooted in a conceptual framework. This framework enables us to disseminate a cohesive identity and message for each client across different media and forms.
5' 2" and nimble-footed
Akemi Hong is 5'2" and the principal of Studio Akemi. She's also a part-time faculty member and MFA recipient of the Visual Communications Design department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Before starting her own studio, Akemi was the Senior Designer at JB Chicago, an integrated marketing agency. She developed big ideas for clients and converted brand strategies into creative platforms, integrated marketing plans, and executions ranging across print, video, social, mobile, and web. Accomplishments at JB Chicago including steering the company's 2014 rebranding, 2014 web development strategy, and its successful 2011 admission to Facebook Studio. Prior to Chicago, Akemi was the marketing and design associate for Belami Inc. in Sacramento, CA, an online retailer and e-commerce services provider.
