Studio Akemi is a petite creative studio in the City of Big Shoulders. We pack a different cut of fresh with grit and gusto. Studio Akemi offers insight and creativity to every problem we tackle. Whether it is building a brand, directing a video, or designing a user interface, Studio Akemi is a responsive and multidisciplinary partner. We channel client desires into cogent digital experiences.

5' 2" and nimble

Akemi Hong is 5'2" and the principal of Studio Akemi. She earned an MFA from the Visual Communications Design department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Akemi returned to the program as a part-time faculty member and taught for five years. She continues to serve as a design mentor.

Before starting her own studio, Akemi was the Senior Designer at JB Chicago, an integrated marketing agency. Accomplishments at JB Chicago include steering the company's 2014 rebranding, 2014 web development strategy, and its successful 2011 admission to Facebook Studio. Prior to Chicago, Akemi was the marketing and design associate for Belami Inc. in Sacramento, CA, an online retailer and e-commerce services provider.
